<p>A fluid sensor which is provided with connecting wires for a control circuit is fitted inside the motor housing at the point which is lowest when the electric motor is in use. The fluid sensor comprises a holder, for example a lamp-wire terminal, in which there is mounted a PTC thermistor bead or an NTC thermistor bead for detecting a non-conductive fluid, which has penetrated into the housing, on the basis of a temperature change. In order to detect a conductive fluid on the basis of a resistance change, the holder can have open contact electrodes which the fluid touches, for which purpose the lamp-wire terminal can be used on its own. In consequence, it is possible to achieve operationally reliable, space-saving and cost-effective detection of electrically conductive fluids or non-conductive fluids inside the electric motor. <IMAGE></p> |
