Combined solar and waste heat store is built into the ground having a side wall of hollow material fitted with insulation to which gas pressure can be applied. This has solar panels which can be on the surface or on the walls as in parent patent. The ballast tanks are immersed and mounted to the walls. The walls can have covers or flaps. The walls are made from single piece material covering the whole area but with subdivision into chambers. It should not have joints but be constructed to resist thermal expansion. Cold water is withdrawn from the base while the hot water collects in the top. Used for storing waste heat from power stations and solar energy. The original patent was for a floating store on a large reservoir. The present chain extends this to smaller stores where large reservoirs are not available.
