<p>Ginseng compsns. comprise the active principles of ginseng in a carrier which itself contains bitter substances. The carrier can be (a) a herbal liquor, e.g. "bitters", or (b) a bitter chocolate or marzipan contg. oil of bitter almonds. In case (a), the compsn. pref. contains an extract of 0.05-0.2(0.08-0.12, esp. 0.1)g. of ginseng root per ml. of compsn. In case (b), the ginseng root is pref. used in powder form. The compsns. can contain a high concn. of ginseng without its bitter taste significantly affecting the overall taste of the compsn. Ginseng is stated to have favourable effects on the CNS, brain, muscles, nerves and circulation, etc.</p> |
