PURPOSE:To impress discharge voltage upon any one electrode out of an electrode couple, to which a normally alternately holding voltage is applied, depending upon the input information which is to indicate the shift voltage of a prescribed level, and to expand this operation successively to the adjoining discharge cells in order to perform indication. CONSTITUTION:On the internal face of at least one of a pair of substrates 1 and 2, which are arranged in opposite directions via a gas space for discharging, a plural number of electrode couples 3 are provided which determine the layout of the number of discharge cells along the extension direction of the bar graph to be indicated. On the other hand, one electrode of the electrode couple is led out as common electrode Y, and the other electrode is led out to the common terminal X via at least one bus. Further, a gas discharge panel, which is equipped with ''write'' electrode W that determines the ''write'' discharge cell, is provided at one end of a plural number of shift electrodes X1 to Xn, which determine the layout of discharge cells. Then discharge, which has been generated by impressing the ''write'' voltage upon the ''write'' electrode W, is impressed upon any one electrode out of the electrode couple on which a normal alternating holding voltage is impressed, depending upon the input information which is to indicate the shift voltage of a prescribed level. This operation is expanded sequentially to adjoining discharge cells, thereby giving indication of the bar graph. |
