A transport device for test sample carriers in the form of elongate rectangular containers, each of which can accommodate a number of test sample holders which are to be applied to a treatment station one after the other. the said device comprised a rectangular table provided with a pair of adjacently situated fields wherein the containers can be displaced by means of at least two comparatively narrow, parallel extending conveyor belts whereon the containers, loosely bear by way of raised portions provided on their underside. At the end of each of the fields, viewed in the movement direction of the belts, one or more steps are provided for arresting the containers, on each side of the table a pin or roller is provided which is eccentrically connected to a rotatable shaft which is connected to a drive such that wherein the side wall of a container bearing against the step is situated. The pin or roller c-operates with slot-shaped recesses which are provided in the relevant side wall of each container and which are open on at least one end. the pin or roller can perform a rotary movement in the plans - -
