A plastic fitting for pipes comprises a blowmoulded body 1, or 6, having a plurality of branches to each of which one of a number of plastic end connectors 2, 3, 4, 5 is rigidly joined and sealed at the inside wall surface 8 to the outside surface at the end of each branch. The connectors are moulded accurately to size and fit closely over the exterior of the blowmoulding of which the outside size is closely controlled by the mould. The connectors may be of various types (see Fig. 1) and are attached to the body by solvent welding, heat welding, spin welding or by conventional screwing, swageing or upsetting. They are provided with a square corner 10 internally to serve as a pipe-seating. Polyvinyl chloride, acronitrile-butadiene-styrene and polypropylene are mentioned as suitable materials for all the components. |
