Speed measuring system esp. for demonstration vehicles - uses optical track scanner to drive IR transmitter directed to receiver at end of track

The speed measuring system uses an aluminium reflecting strip laid along the track over which the vehicle is to pass. The strip has uniformly spaced, non-reflecting transverse bars. An infrared emitter in the vehicle (3) is directed at the track. A matching photo-receiver (4) with associated amplifier and trigger delivers a series of output pulses of defined duration and amplitude. These pulses are used to drive an optical transmitter (5) which is directed towards a fixed receiver (6) at the end of the track. The photo-transistor of the receiver is coupled to an amplifier and monostable. Output pulses are fed to an integrator.
