An auxiliary rake is attached to the handle of an ordinary garden rake. A collar holds a steel blade on the handle of the ordinary rake and the auxiliary rake is connected to the blade via a coil spring. The teeth of the auxiliary rake lie between the teeth of the ordinary rake and are held up by the spring. Leaves impaled on the teeth of the ordinary rake are removed by the teeth of the auxiliary rake due to the inertia of the latter when the ordinary rake is raised.
