<p>The crankshaft is for an 8-cylinder internal-combustion engine with two rows of cylinders at 90 deg to each other, having four throws in all, each serving a pair of cylinders in opposite rows. The two outer throws extend in opposite directions in the one plane and the two others in the second one at right angles to it. A balance weight is fixed to each web of each throw and to the outer webs of each inner throw. The balance weight (11, 12) on the outermost web (7, 8) of each outer throw (5, 6) lies in the plane of the throw concerned. Those (17, 18) on the outer throw inner webs (13, 14) and (29, 30) on the inner throw (22, 23) outer webs (24, 25) adjacent to them lie in a common plane (19-19) contg. the crankshaft axis (3-3) and symmetrical in relation to the planes of the throws (4-4, 21-21).</p> |
