Simple electromagnetic braking circuit for AC motor - has rectifier diode in parallel with single excitation winding on ferromagnetic body

The electromagnetic braking circuit fro an a.c. motor driving e.g. winch is designed to simplify fabrication and the number of components needed. The brake comprises a solid magnetic body of ferromagnetic material and an excitation winding. The excitation winding consists of a single winding (5) to which a halfwve rectifier (6) is connected in parallel. The excitation winding is in series with one of the motor's phase windings.
