A cable or rope of threads or fibres, esp. a synthetic cable in which the threads run parallel to each other, has an end connection formed by a sleeve in which the threads running axially are clamped by means of a fastening detail. This is a ring through which the threads are passed, whilst their free ends are turned back over the outer surface of the ring. The ring has its opening coaxial with the bore of the sleeve and it is clamped by the bore of the sleeve which tapers inwards. Supersedes an expensive anchorage and sealing system, which, whilst being acceptable for heavy cables is disproportionately costly for lighter products. The new end connection is fully capable of standing up to all requirements, as regards loading to the maximal capacity of the cable, but is cheap. Where a constriction is used, a painted line shows up any deformation due to overloading.
|
