The superimposed-pulse ignitor has a pulse transformer (3), the primary winding of the pulse transformer (3) being assigned a resonant circuit with a switching part. In order that the superimposed-pulse ignitor can be designed in a space-saving manner at low cost, it is proposed that the switching part has a break-over diode (13) and a diode (12) which unloads this break-over diode in its reverse direction. <IMAGE>
