A lens forming method was described. A melted glass gob was supplied to a mould which was closed to give a designated shaped and opened to give formed articles(I). I were then tempered. The forming temp. and closed-hour of the I were adjusted to give viscosities to the glass surface and core parts 1010.5 poise and <= 108 poise, respectively. When surface viscosity reached a max. 1010.5 poise, the mould was opened, and I were transported to the cooling medium to give tempering viscosity >= 10 poise.
