Deterioration of the black areas of the silver image in developed photographic silver halide materials which have been stabilized instead of fixed, is prevented by incorporating into the emulsion or another layer of the photographic light-sensitive silver halide material a compound of the formula: - wherein R 1 is a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring and R 2 is an optionally substituted alkoxy of up to 3C, aroxy, alkyl of up to 18C or aryl group. R 1 may be derived from an oxazole, imidazole, oxadiazole, thiadiazole, triazole, tetrazole, quinoline, pyrimidine, quinoxaline or purine nucleus. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,051,869 and 1,053,587. |
