A stable bubble layer is produced on mass and heat exchange plates of counterflow sepn. columns by arranging several vertical or slightly inclined plates on each deck in addn. to the horizontal plates. These plates are located at a small distance from and above each horizontal plate and are directed crosswise to the main flow direction of the liq. on a horizontal plate. This improves the phase contact under extreme conditions of the flow parameters in gas/liq. sepn. columns and prevents the horizontal plates from being blown clear.
