Self extinguishing thermoplastic polystyrene or polyolefin moulding materials contain (a) an organic bromine cpd. and (b) 0.05-2.0 wt. % bis-(alpha-phenylethyl)-sulphone (I). (I) is relatively cheap and stable to high temps., and is an effective as a synergistically active fire retardant in conjunction with organic Br agents. |
