The invention relates to diphenoxy titanium dichloride and to a process for the preparation thereof by reacting phenol and titanium tetrachloride. In an example, phenol, dissolved in benzene, is heated under dry argon and titanium tetrachloride added dropwise to the mixture and refluxed. Hydrogen chloride is evolved and on cooling a red crystalline precipitate was formed which was recrystallized.ALSO:Olefine oxides may be polymerized using diphenoxy titanium dichloride (see Division C2) as a catalyst.
