PURPOSE:To contrive the high quality of the product, by settling the looper of the rear stand at an angle hardly makable the scratch flaw in the back face of the strip, when the finishing pass is performed at an intermediate stand without necessity of rolling work passing through entire stands. CONSTITUTION:In the case that the rolling work is finished at the mill in the housing 2 of the second stand, the mill in the housing 3 at the rear end is free from the rolling work; therefore, the mill roll gap for this stand is placed under an open condition, and the looper 9 is first settled at the lowest limit condition. After the tip of the strip 18 passes over the looper 9, the locking cylinder of the looper locker 11 is actuated; hereby, the slider goes down and rotates the looper 9 counterclockwise centering at rotary shaft of the looper, until the stopper strikes the slider; this condition is maintained while the rolling work is carried out. As a result, the strip 18 is held by the looper roller 10, so that the strip 18 is free from the contact with the interstand stripper 5 and the interstand guide 7, and enters into the rear stand 3; hereby, the scratch flaw in the back face of the strip 18 can be prevented. |
