1453001 Consolidating walls HALLIBURTON CO 24 May 1974 [7 June 1973] 23430/74 Heading E1F An incompetent formation is permeably consolidated by injecting into the formation a dispersion of a curable organic resin, an amino silane and/or an aliphatic amine having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms in an aqueous carrier liquid, and then curing the resin. The aliphatic amine may be in the form of an acid addition salt, quaternary ammonium salt or ethylene oxide condensate of such an aliphatic amine, and the preferred amino silanes have the formula where R 1 is a straight, branched or cyclic chain alkylene radical having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R 2 is hydrogen, an amino alkyl radical having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or an alkyl radical having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R 3 is a straight or branched chain alkyl radical having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n is an integer from 0 to 10. The curable organic resin is an epoxy resin, a phenolaldehyde resin, a furfuryl alcohol resin, a urea-aldehyde resin or a mixture of two or more thereof. Particulate material, e.g. sand may be added to the dispersion prior to the injection of the latter into the formation. |
