INTERMEDIATE DRIVE CONVEYOR

A belt conveyor having an endless conveyor belt for receiving the goods to be conveyed. The loaded section of the conveyor belt 1 is driven by at least one endless driving belt 11a which is in frictional contact with the loaded section. The driving belt moves on a plurality of carrier rollers 13 and is guided about deflection rollers 14 which are spaced at regular intervals corresponding at the most to double the width of the conveyor belt and are arranged to deflect the driving belt between the carrier rollers downwardly. In a preferred embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the loaded section of the conveyor belt is in the shape of a trough having a central flat region and is partly supported and guided by laterally arranged freely rotatable support rollers which are inwardly inclined, the endless driving belt or at least one of the endless driving belts being arranged to be in frictional contact with the said central region of the loaded section.
