Satellite docking and stabilising control - uses controlled waveforms transmitted down link lines

The relative position of two satellites (4, 5) or spacecraft is controlled by a special link line (2). Special waveforms are transmitted down this line to control the relative attitudes of the two craft and to prevent them from colliding uncontrolled. The waveform maintain the selected relative settings and also enable a carefully controlled docking action to take place. Simple solenoid transducers provide separate types of waveforms. A piston arrangement or a rotating crank system is used to impart the wave motion to the link line.
