The seat for use in boats or road vehicles comprises a cushion-backrest unit (10) supported from a pedestal (12) by a centrally pivoted transverse bracket (14) and two concentric rings (11, 15). The rings are pivoted (24, 25) at 90 deg., forming a gimbal mounting. Steadying torsion bars (18, 19) are arranged co-axially with the pivots for each ring. Extension arms (26a, 27a) from lugs (26, 27) on the inner ring (15) hold the middle of the upper bar (18), its ends being connected to the outer ring by brackets (20, 21) on the pivot pins. The lower bar has its ends similarly secured to the inner ring; its middle is bolted (32) to lugs (30,31) on the pedestal bracket. |
