<p>Sol-type liq. copolymer (A), is prepd. by copolymerising (a) 99-50 pts. wt. of (1) a diene monomer or (2) a diene monomer and a copolymerisable monomer contg. an H2C double bond C gp. with (b) 1-50(2-20) pts. wt. polyfunctional acrylate or methacrylate monomer in the presence of (c) 2-30 pts. wt., w.r.t. 100 pts. wt. of total monomer, of a xanthogen disulphide cpd. having formula (ROCSS-)2 (I) (where R is 1-12C hydrocarbyl). (A) contains terminal xanthate gps. having formula ROCSS- and has viscosity ( ) 0.03-0.25 dl./g. (measured in toluene at 30 degrees C). A hardenable compsn. consisting of 100 pts. wt. (A) and >=3 pts. wt. amino cpd. contg. >=1 prim. or sec. amino gp. is also claimed. The compsns. can be used as adhesives, coatings, laminating materials, embedding agents, sealing compsns., paints, casting- and moulding compsns. (A) hardens >10x more quickly with amine cpds. at room temp. than a standard liq. polymer, and can harden at -10 degrees C to +180(20-30) degrees C. The compsns. harden quickly at room temp. even when contg. 100 pts. wt. non-reactive plasticiser.</p> |
