Plug and socket connections between circuit boards - using pins with socket part at one end fixed in socket strip and passing through board and variable height plug strip

The circuit board has pin/socket connections to enable a tree-like connecting structure to be built up to other boards in parallel or perpendicular planes. The contact elements consist of dual function contacts (13) with a tulip shaped socket part at one end fixed in holes in the socket connector strip (2) at one side of the circuit board. The rest of the contacts are basically pins which pass through holes in the board and through holes in a plug connector strip (3). The pins (15) project above the top of the plug connectors and may be inserted into the socket strips of parallel boards. The plug connector strips may have varying heights and the pins may be bent at right angles.
