PURPOSE:In mutual pressure-butt-welding of pipes having different hardness, a soft pipe has an edge with a fat wall thickness, and a hard pipe has an edge with a wedge shape. The wedge is pressed into the fat wall to provide a tightly contacted welding surface. CONSTITUTION:A chuck 411 fixes a pipe having soft hardness such as aluminum pipe. Then, the pipe and a shape holding fixture 413 are arranged in the same axis. A punch 414 compresses and deforms the end face of the pipe to form a thick-wall end portion 421, then the shape holding fixture 413 is removed. The thick end 421 is faced opposite to a wedge-shaped edge 4331 of the pipe 433 having high hardness such as copper. The wedge edge 4331 is pressed into the thick end 421 to complete a pressure welding.
