[Also in Division F1] A refrigeration system comprises an ejector 100 having a central nozzle 104 and a concentric annular nozzle 107, a line 12 for supplying high-pressure liquid refrigerant to one nozzle, preferably nozzle 104, in which it is accelerated to form a supersonic liquid-vapour mixture, a line 16 for supplying refrigerant vapour from the evaporator 18 to the other nozzle, a tube having a mixing section 112 into which the nozzles discharge and a diffuser section 116, a liquid-vapour separator 30 connected to the outlet of section 116, a compressor 31 and condenser 22 for converting the vapour from the separator into the high-pressure liquid and an expansion valve 28 through which liquid from the separator is passed to the evaporator. The liquid from condenser 22 may pass through a pump 14 and a heater 34 before returning to nozzle 104, by-passes 17 and 23 being provided for the heater alone and for both pump and heater respectively. A plurality of ejectors 100, connected in series or in parallel, may be employed. Preferred refrigerants are listed. |
