A polypropylene moulding composition comprises per 100 parts of polypropylene (having an intrinsic viscosity in toluene at 100‹ C. of 3-20 dl./g. and a fraction of 20 to 35% by weight which is soluble in boiling n-heptane) 5 to 90 parts of one or more finely-divided metal oxides and/or metals. The composition may also contain 0À1-20% of a metal fluoride. Metals and oxides exemplified are copper, beryllium, cadmium, aluminium, lanthanum, indium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, bismuth, tungsten, manganese, iron, cobalt, iron oxide, uranium oxide, antimony oxide, lead oxide, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide and copper oxide. Exemplified fluorides are those of zinc, cadmium, aluminium, magnesium and cobalt. |
