This invention relates to new three-thio derivatives of thioalkoxycarbonyl-and carbamoyl-substituted thioacetylcephalosporins of the formula wherein R is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl-lower alkyl, tri(lower alkyl)silyl, a salt forming ion, or the group -CH2-O-?-R4 and in addition, tri(lower alkyl)stannyl and phenyl when R? is lower alkylthio; R1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, thienyl, furyl or pyridyl; R? is lower alkylthio, lower alkylamino or phenyl-lower alkylamino; R3 is lower alkylthio or a 5-membered heterocycle containing only nitrogen and carbon or nitrogen, carbon and sulfur in the ring when R? is lower alkylthio, and when R? is lower alkylamino or phenyl-lower alkylamino, R3 is a five or six membered nitrogen, sulfur and/or oxygen containing ring system; and R4 is lower alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-lower alkyl; are useful as antibacterial agents.
