PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus which is so arranged as not to leave local peak potentials on the surface of a photoreceptor after finishing of destaticizing by gradually attenuating the discharge current of a corona dischrge means removing the residual charges of the photoreceptor and stopping discharging. CONSTITUTION:The DC current from a power source 20 is supplied via circuit 1 to an oscillator 2 to generate alternsting curremt, which is then boosted by a boosting transformer 3, and is supplied to an AC corona discharger 4, whereby the surface charges of an insulator 5 are removed. At this time, a switching circuit 41 and a time constant circuit 42 by semiconductor elements are provided, and when contacts 6 are closed, DC current is supplied to the oscillator 2, thus destaticizing by discharging is accomplished. When the contacts 6 are opened, the current gradually attenuates thereafter at a constant time constant and finally the supply thereof is stopped. By suitably selecting the time constant of the circuit 42, the unevenness of the potentials may be reduced and the unevenness by peak potentials removed. |
