<p>The ingnition distributor is for internal combustion engines. The distributor overcomes problems associated with the orthodox contacts by two sprung (12) contact brushes (3, 4) positioned vertically above each other. The upper brush is connected to the battery via the coil and the lower to vehicle ground. The two brushes are interconnected allowing current to flow through the coil as the upper and lower brush bear on a conducting disc (5) caried by the distributor shaft (6). The circuit is broken as the upper brush passes over isolating inserts (7). The shaft is continued into an orthodox distributor arm, central high voltage electrode and plug electrodes. Both brushes are mountd on a normally, fixed support plate (2).</p> |
