PURPOSE:To reduce the amt. of slag produced in a hot iron-steel refining process, by desiliconizing blast furnace hot iron prior to refining to steel and using the resulting desiliconization slag as part of raw material for blast furnace sintered ore. CONSTITUTION:Hot iron discharged from a blast furnace is treated by oxygen blowing, charge of iron oxide, etc. in a runner, ladle, torpedo car, etc. to preferentially oxidize Si contained to below 0.15%. The formed slag consisting of SiO2; 45- 80%, MnO; 5-15%, TiO2; 2-6% and B2O3; 2-4% is cooled, crushed, and used as a SiO2 source for blast furnace sinttered ore. At the time, oxidation of C, Mn, P and S is controlled. since the Si content of the hot iron becomes low, the amt. of lime added to attain a certain basicity is considerably reduced when the hot iron is refined to steel in a converter. So, the amt. of slag formed in the converter is also remarkably reduced. Because MnO and TiO2 are contained in the desiliconization slag, the amt. of Mn ore, iron sand, etc. used in the blast furnace can be lowered.
|
