A device for mixing materials to form an homogeneous mass comprises two relatively rotatable mixing members (2, 5) which are supported on a support structure (1, 6) the members being introduced into the materials to be mixed in a container. The disc 2 is attached to a rotary shaft 1 and cooperates with a stationary disc 5 secured to the structure 6. The shaft 1 incorporates a cardan joint 3, 4 to permit a degree of self alignment between the discs. The discs have an annular portion with radially extending slits 8 and the rotary disc 2 has a central hub portion in the form of helical spokes 8. The combined action of the spokes and slits is to create a pumping action radially outwardly as the disc 2 rotates to effect milling and mixing of the materials to produce a homogeneous product.
