The flat collector serves for the direct heating of the room air of a structure using solar energy. The flat collector is arranged free-standing outside the structure and has a sheet-metal wall (3) serving for heat absorption, a heat-insulation wall (4) and a cavity (16) for heating the room air of the structure. The flat collector has at least one air supply line (13) in order to supply air to be heated from the structure to the cavity and at least one air return line (12) in order to supply heated air from the cavity to the structure. The circulation of the room air is regulated depending upon the temperature in the cavity by a regulating device (10) with a temperature sensor. <IMAGE>
