PURPOSE:To provide a fuel control apparatus quick in response and excellent in cleaning property which is adapted to adjust the fuel flow rate of the fuel supply line through comparison of current value of ion in the exhaust gas with the reference value. CONSTITUTION:An ion electrode 14 for an ion current detection identically arranged to an ignition plug, for example, is installed in an exhaust tube 12 connected to the engine 11 between a triple catalyst layer 13 therein and the engine. The output of the ion electrode 14 is fed to a control circuit 15 where the input signal is computed in comparison with the reference value on an ion current output map (as not illustrated-previously memorized according to the running conditions of the engine 11. With the output, an actuator 16 is driven to control the fuel stream of the fuel line including a carburetor in response to the magnitude of the ion current. With this method, control is made to bring the actual air-fuel ratio closer to the theoretical air-fuel ratio. |
