Flexible drive belt. .Gl-. In which the belt is made from an elastomer material which is reinforced by metal fibre inserts both transversely and longditudinally. Transverse drive members are provided on one of the belt and the belt is driven by sprocket wheel whose teeth engage square holes spaced along the middle of the belt. The holes are reinforced by metal inserts which are folded from a metal sheet with a flange at one end and tabs which are bent over at the other end to retain the insert in the hole.
