<p>A step-in side-clamp safety ski release system is described, comprising an overcenter mechanism. In the overcenter mechanism there is provided a lever member (50). The lever member (50) is pivotably coupled intermediate its ends to a connecting member (40). When the lever member (50) is pivoted in a first direction, the member slidably engages a housing (1) for moving the lever member (50) and connecting member (40) against a spring force for opening a pair of slideclamping members (5, 6). Pivoting of the lever member (50) in the opposite direction disengages the lever member (50) from the housing (1) permitting the lever member (50) and connecting member (40) to move with the spring force for closing the side-clamping members (5, 6). The lever member (50) is provided with a hole for receiving the tip of a ski pole for pivoting the lever member (50) in the first direction to open the clamping members and is provided with a surface for receiving the heel of a ski boot for pivoting the lever member (50) in the second direction to close the clamping members (5, 6). </p> |
