An aziridine derivative of the formula II is reacted with a haloformic ester of the formula III, in which Hal denotes chlorine or bromine, e.g. in an inert solvent. 1-Aziridinecarboxylic ester derivatives of the formula I are obtained, in which X and R have the meaning listed in Claim 1.
