<p>PURPOSE:To connect new electrode to old electrode after aligning both electrodes while holding new electrode by a suspension arm provided on a case containing it therein and transferring it over old electrode. CONSTITUTION:After new electrode A is place on a preparation stand B, the device is lifted by connecting the hook of a crane and the like to a lifting eye 2a and lowered on the new electrode A with a case 1 covering it. Claws 12a are engaged to the new electrode and the case 1 is lifted with the new electrode A suspended by suspension arms 12 with suspension springs 11 compressed. Said case 1 is transferred over the old electrode C to fit a tapered male thread A1 at the bottom end of the new electrode A to a tapered female thread C1 at the top end of the old electrode C while adjusting the position of the case 1 to have its swivel restrictor 24 to face a clamp lever 26. The suspension spring 11 functions as a shock absorber when the case 1 is lowered to engage both electrodes.</p> |
