Ionising electrodes consist of a rigid tube to which are fixed peripheral projections which diffuse or distribute the emissions of the electrode. The projections may take several forms but are always rounded at the ends. The projections are oriented parallel to the course followed by the gaseous current in an electrostatic precipitator. The arrangement of projections produces an equilibrated emission of ions by the extremities which much reduces the risk of electric discharge. The rounded extremities are only slightly exposed to corrosion due to electric erosion and are mechanically very stable. The electrode is robust and simple. |
