Fractional cementation of metals from leaching solns. - esp. for the consecutive winning of copper, cadmium, cobalt and nickel

The cementation material (a) consists of at least two metals of different electrochemical potentials, and is more electronegative than the metal to be pptd. by cementation and material (a) is added as granules or lumps to a vibrating reactor contg. the leaching soln. Material (a) may consist of an alloy; a mixt. of granules of different metals; or a mixt. of granules of metals and alloys. For the cementation of copper, the granules (a) are pref. a Cd/Zn alloy; or a mixt. of Cd- and Zn- granules. For cementation of Co and/or Ni, the granules are pref. ZnSb alloy; a mixt. of ZnSb alloys; or a mixt. of Zn- and Sb- and/or ZnSb- granules. For cementation of Cd, a mixt. of Zn- and A1- granules is pref. used. Allows efficient winning of metals with low investmentand- and operating- costs, and without dust formation.
