A digital calculator as described in Specification 1,261,710, has modifications relating to its function counter circuit. A function keyboard 8 has a number of keys representing various functions or programme operations of the machine, e.g. add, enter &c., depression of a key causing generation of a signal unique to that function. The signal is a repetitively transmitted pulse of duration depending on the function and a digit keyboard is also provided. A function counter 10 is a decade counter having eight states corresponding to eight functions F0 to F7 which are connected to respective emitter followers 10c which in turn are connected to the function circuit by diode resistor AND gates (Fig. 2, not shown). When a counter state is energized a voltage is applied by the emitter follower to enable the AND gate and hence the function circuit. If the state is not energized the AND gate is not enabled and the function circuit is isolated. |
