A precision approach radar includes an azimuth-scanning aerial producing overlapping beams, an elevation-scanning aerial fed from the same transmitter, and a receiver connected to the azimuth-scanning aerial, the receiver gain in each radar pulse recurrence period being reduced progressively from the valve at the touchdown point to a minimum at a preselected range therebeyond and thereafter rising progressively.
