1,165,559. Pulse radar; automatic gain control. TESLA, NARODNI PODNIK. 26 April, 1967 [29 April, 1966], No. 19259/67. Headings H3Q and H4D. A precision approach radar includes an azimuth-scanning aerial producing overlapping beams, an elevation-scanning aerial fed from the same transmitter, and a receiver connected to the azimuth-scanning aerial, the receiver gain in each radar pulse recurrence period being reduced progressively from the valve at the touchdown point to a minimum at a preselected range therebeyond and thereafter rising progressively. Automatic gain control, Fig. 3.-The gain control circuit consists of a multivibrator MV is synchronized with the radar pulse transmission and is coupled to an integrator C 1 which is followed by oppositely-poled diodes D 1 , D 2 , the wiper of a potentiometer being connected to an amplifier Z in the radar receiver. General.-Due to the combination of receiver gain and aerial radiation patterns an aircraft echo is displayed but ground targets at medium and long ranges are suppressed. |
