Highly colloidal water-cement mixts. are made by first using a mixer to obtain a premix (a) of water:cement with wt. ratio 0.25-0.6:1, during 2 mins. using a speed of 300 metres/minute. The same or a second mixer is then used for at least 8 mins. so the cement grains are subject to an acceleration of >=2g(g=0.81 m/sec.2) so the premix is converted into a completely colloidal adhesive (b) used for mfg. building elements; for partial or complete internal and/or external coating of building elements (e.g. pipes); or for filling cracks. Mixt. (b) may be reinforced by adding =10 wt. % of fillers or organic and/or inorganic fibres; and part of the cement may be replaced by mineral(s), esp. by max. 10% minerals with latent hydraulic properties. Pref. the mixer has a baffle ring located round the mixer blades to cause circular flow producing mixt. (b).
