Extraction apparatus comprises a flask, an extraction vessel suspended from a constriction in the neck of the flask and a cooler above the flask on which the ascending extraction vapours are condensed, to drip back from the inclined lower face of the cooler into the extraction vessel. The extraction vessel is an elongated sleeve or tube extending almost to the bottom of the flask and having a small extraction aperture at the bottom of a size smaller than the smallest sample to be extracted. Specifically, the extraction vessel rests. A high extraction intensity and rapid operation are combined with only a low heat demand.
