The door of a coke blast furnace is sealed around its circumference by means of a sealing plate. The door has a metal support for refractory brickwork spaced some distance from the body of the door and fixed to the door structure. On the edge of the sealing plate, there is a blade which, when the door is closed, comes into contact with a frame enclosing the door opening of the coke blast furnace. Around the door above the blade, holders are provided, in the upper ends of which, the screwed shaft of an adjusting detail is threaded. This has a central bore in which a spindle in the holder is fitted. The spindle has at its top end a stop nut which is adjustable, towards its bottom end a guide collar and at its bottom end a slot by which it engages with the back of the blade. Inside the holder between the adjusting detail and the collar, there is a spring which presses the spindle against the blade. Used to make a seal on a coke blast furnace door by combining the two systems already in use. The seal for the circumference of the door, around which there is a frame, is designed so that the blade can be put under pressure and pretensioned at every point. The load applied is adjustable, and if necessary, it is possible also to hammer the blade into contact with the frame.
|
