A teaching aid specifically intended for young children, allows printed music to be followed on a note-by-note basis. The printed notes (2) are overlaid on top of a base containing rows of contact strips (4). The note symbols have holes (3) to allow access to the contact strips. A pencil inserted through the hole allows the appropriate contact to be made and a suitable generator activated. The contact paths are made by an electrically conducting coloured strip.
