PURPOSE:To protect the magnetic head, prevent wear of the head, and extend the service life of magnetic tape, by keeping the magnetic head and magnetic tape in non-contact state in operation modes not requiring contact between the magnetic head and magnetic tape, such as fast-feeding, rewinding, and stopping. CONSTITUTION:When a direct-current voltage is applied to a piezoelectric element 6 through a conductor 8, the mounting base 7 of magnetic head 1 is driven by the piezoelectric effect in a way to cause the magnetic head 1 to contact with a magnetic tape 2. And non-contact state is established when the supply of direct-current voltage is stopped. A judging means 16, when an operation signal 20 is either record or playback, issues a command signal 18 to cause a changeover means 14 to supply direct-current voltage 19 to slip ring mechanisms 10a, 10b, so that the direct-current 19 is supplied into a driving means 9 to set the magnetic head 1 and magnetic tape 2 in contact with each other. The judging means 16, when the operation signal 20 is fast-feed, rewind or stop, issues, to the contrary, a command signal 18 to cause the changeover means 14 to disconnect the direct-current voltage 19 from the slip ring mechanisms 10a, 10b, so that the direct-current voltage 19 is not supplied into the driving means 9, hence keeping the head 1 and tape 2 in non-contact state. |
