The weaving machine, in which the weft thread (5) is inserted by means of a projectile (4) guided by a number of guide elements (3), has a converter (10) for generating signals in dependence on the movement of the projectile (4), which converter (10) is arranged on a guide element (3). The electrical signals from the converter (10), after being amplified, arrive at the following switching device which carries out the necessary switching. The arrangement of the converter (10) on a guide element (3) makes contact of the converter (10) with the guide track formed by the guide elements (3) unnecessary. <IMAGE>
