The gas or oil fired hot water boiler has a plastics liner (1) supported by an aluminium top cap (2) and bottom cap (3). These are reinforced by a glass fibre winding (4) to give increased pressure resistance. This can be secured by using a synthetic resin. At each end is a central opening (6) for the tube (7) for the hot gases. The water suply line (20) and discharge (21) pass through an end cap (2). The central tube (7) has a flange (8, 9) round top and bottom to hold a sealing ring (10, 11). The hole (6) through the bottom cap (3) is larger than the flange (8) round the top of the central tube for assembly purposes. At the top is a plate (13) for adjusting screws (14).
