The mfg. process for grid elements is particularly for those subjected to a large edge wear and comprises applying a plating on one face of a plate, the plating taking the desired shape of the mesh and constituted of a first wear resistance material, such as a high alloy steel, and then on the other face the plate is cut by means of a burner so that the mesh remains behind with the plating only on one side. The grid can be used in the casting of reinforced concrete blocks and has a harder wear resistance than conventional grid moulds. The machine to carry out the process can be fixed to a tool-holder of a cutting machine and can move an electric welding gun(1) having an electric motor(2) which can apply on a plate(3) a plating comprising weld ribbons(4) of variable width(b). The necessary design can be laid out via the gun. The welding rod comprises a wear resistant alloy which is applied in a protective gas atmosphere. The plate(3) can be of a normal steel. After laying down the ribbons(4) the plate(3) is cut by means of a burner so that the grid compartments(16) remain i.e. those formed between the individual moulds(17) provided to fabricate the composite blocks.
|
